It’s that time of year again when Wollongong’s stunning foreshore fills with people for the Australia Day Aquathon, and we are thrilled to once again be a sponsor. This year, however, with a slight twist as some of our team members are also participating!
Here at Soto we are passionate about employee health and wellbeing, our environment and our community. The Illawarra is an integral part of who we are and we can’t think of a better way to showcase that than through the Aquathon.
As in previous years, there’s something for everyone, whether you want to compete solo or as part of a team; push yourself with the 900m swim and 7km run; or complete the more leisurely 4km walk, run, roll.
As ever, preparation is key, no matter whether this is your first time, or your tenth. For this year’s event, there are not only guides and videos but also new programs designed by local physio, James Davvy. Not up for taking part but still want to do your bit? The Aquathon wouldn’t run as smoothly as it does without the volunteers who give up their Sunday to make sure everyone gets home safe and sound.
The Australia Day Aquathon has now been running for over 20 years and is an essential part of our local community. This year, the funds raised for our local not-for-profits and charities, are more important than ever, as we continue to fight the devasting bushfires that have ripped through the Illawarra. However you can participate, we urge you to swim, walk or run for the charity of your choice or donate during the online entry, with all donations going straight to charity.
So before you set up the barbie and crack open a cold one this Australia Day, come down to the Foreshore and be a part of your community.
Registration closes on Saturday 25 January at 12 noon. For more information on the 2020 Aquathon click here.
